His name is Dr. Benjamin Carson. He overcame the streets of Detroit, a broken home, racial prejudice, and poverty to become a world-renowned brain surgeon – not only saving the lives of hundreds of people, but enriching the lives of countless others. He is a most worthy role model for all Americans to emulate.
His incredible story is one of courage, faith, and honor. Courage to persevere in the face of incredible negativity and long odds. Faith in the reality of God’s hand to inspire and uplift in dark, hopeless moments. Honor given in return for the love and counsel of a strong parent.
In his remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast speech last week, Dr. Carson humorously, but pointedly, verbally chastised President Obama – who sat near the podium – for his flawed socialist agenda in the area of healthcare, taxation, and the national debt, and said the U.S. instead simply needs a system that rewards private initiative, instead of penalizing it, and above all, a system that empowers people take charge of their own lives through promoting education and faith; the help of God.
The video Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, which stars Cuba Gooding, Jr., originally aired in 2009 on TNT, can be viewed below. It portrays Carson’s personal journey of success in life. Today, Dr. Carson is the head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Before you view the movie, consider what is the exact opposite of Dr. Carson’s amazing story.
The New Breadwinner In The Family
An emergency room physician in Chicago, testified in a letter to a newspaper that a woman in her late 20′s came to the ER today with her
8th Pregnancy.
She told the first doctor she saw: “My Mama told me that I be dah breadwinnah fo dah family.“ He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies, and babies get money from the State for the family. It goes like this;
The Grandma calls the Department of Child & Family Services, and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for all of her kids.
DCFS agrees, and tells her the children will need to go into foster care. The Grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and receives a check for $1500 per child each month in Illinois .
Do the Math: 8 Children @ $1,500 Per Month = $12,000 Per Month X 12 Months =Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free!
That’s right, friends, TAX FREE! Nobody has to go to work! In fact, they get more handout money if there is no husband/father/man in the home! Not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid), plus a monthly card entitling them to free groceries and a voucher for 250 free Obama-phone minutes each month. This does not include WIC and other welfare benefits…those to which they are “entitled”.
Indeed, Grandma was correct that her fertile daughter is the “breadwinner” for the family. This is how the liberal “Progressive” (Communist) politicians spend our tax dollars. When this generous program was invented in the ’60s, the Great Society architects forgot to craft an end date… and now we are hopelessly overrun with people who vote only for those who will continue to keep them on the government “tit”.
And People wonder why our country is both morally and financially bankrupt ?! All the more reason to salute heros like Dr. Benjamin Carson.
I salute you, sir! THANKS!!

Doctor Ben Carson a role model for all. I am happy to see that he is being recognize for his work.
I am sick and tired that when one thinks of welfare the only women that is talked about or portrayed are black women. W’hat about the Jews who are having babies and their husband don’t work, they spend their time in those yeshiva school studying the Talmud. they get help from the government .What about the Chinese and other Europeans groups beside the Jews who are here on welfare. The black and Spanish women now have to work for that check, while no other ethnicity have to work. Now Blacks and Hispanic women have to work for that help, so what is the complaint.
I have two of Dr. Ben Carson’s books, we bought them for our children. People need help to get themselves out of a bad situation sometimes that include blacks, Europeans, Chinese, Jews and others. The women who said that’s what her mama told her, if the mama used that money to better her life and help her grandchildren to excel in school by using some of that money for tutoring and programs that will enhance their education and they all go to college and become successful well I would say well done, but if the cycle continues then that is tragic not only for that family but for all of us, what affect one person will eventually have an effect on all. When programs are created to destroy one group of people it will eventually affect all. I don’t care about republicans, Democrats, Independents, and liberals, the liberals one of the most dangerous of the three when it comes to us as blacks, The indigenous of this land America. No political party which is control by whites will never truly work for the betterment and improvement of Blacks
Well written, Olivette. Thanks! The bottom line is collectivism is poisonous to the heart and soul of ALL regardless of sex, race, or creed.
