His name – Stan Rogers.   He was one of the great Irish folk singers of all time.   He inspired millions of people through the messages in his songs.  He perished in 1983 while rescuing fellow passengers in an Air Canada plane crash.   This post is to honor him and his music – especially the message of “The Mary Ellen Carter”.

“And you, to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go
Turn to, and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again.”
– Stan Rogers

And here is a studio recording of the same song, for your enjoyment.   Remember – no matter what hand life may deal you, you can always RISE AGAIN!  It’s not how many times you fall that matters in the end – what matters is how many times you RISE AGAIN!
